Maxvorstadt

This is where it all began. Behind the round porthole door in the Amalienpassage, Lucy built the bar where she chooses our coffees. The people who come in are neighbours: students from the university and regulars we know by name.

The Amalienpassage

The passage runs between Türkenstraße and Amalienstraße, in the middle of the university quarter. We share it with independent shops and galleries; around it are the university, the Academy of Fine Arts and the museums of the Kunstareal. Universität U-Bahn station is a few minutes' walk away. The café is tucked inside the passage — just follow the whale.
